PEACH KELLI POP (Los Angeles, CA)
w/ Vacation + Sega Genocide
$7/$10 18+Doors 9:30pm Show 10pm
Peach Kelli Pop was originally a bedroom recording project created by Allie Hanlon in Ottawa, Canada, in 2009. After Hanlon relocated to Los Angeles, she put together a highly formidable all-female ensemble to play her catchy, tongue-in-cheek songs inspired by video games, Chinese food and conspiracy theories. To date the band has released three critically-acclaimed albums, including Peach Kelli Pop 'III' on Burger Records in 2015.
"Hanlon's voice: sweet yet detached like the fading flavor of a watermelon Jolly Rancher long crunched and swallowed" - Pitchfork
"Sounds like if chiptune foremother Manami Matsumae composed California surf-punk for a Nintendo soundtrack inspired by Shonen Knife playing a sock hop." - L.A. Weekly
"PKP sounds like a thrice-dubbed Archies cassette stuck in fast-forward, or, perhaps, the Chipmunks fronting Nobunny." - FFWDWeekly.com
